(43,850 posts)It's a covenant and though I wouldn't do it it's important to people of the Mormon religion. I'm wary of any religion playing in politics and I think the tenets of Mormonism are false and strange as hell but I don't think it's decent to ridicule such a personal thing. We've got way, way better ammo than that.

In order to go home, they have to wear the sacred jammies.

(23,272 posts)I mean, you don't see them wearing this garb under their bathing suit.
So is this only a requirement sometimes, and not other times? If this is a modesty issue surely they'd be required to wear appropriate covering swim wear?
Convenience? Or religious principle? Or do they wear them only when they might have to expose their magic garments to the faithful (in temple?)

(35,015 posts)so says a Mormon woman on the internets. Apparently Mormons don't talk openly about the true purpose of "gammies".
To each his own I guess, since everyone in this country is entitled to worship as they please. It doesn't much matter to me what religion Rmoney ascribes to; what's important is that he's a rotten human being.

Mine weren't religious though. I had a job where I was in and out in cold Chicago weather while wearing suits. Regular LJs were too bulky.

I don't see this thread as being any different than making fun of a Jewish yarmulke, a Sikh's turban, or a Muslim's hijab.
This is stooping pretty low, and I would like to think we aren't that nasty.
