(20,049 posts)I've been keeping up with this since they're out there. The port of Galveston is currently closed. You may be spending a few more days at sea before you can safely port.

(6,642 posts)I generally cruise with them but had to be back in Dallas for College Football season. They are old friends from a website known as Ccruisecritic.com where you can meet people online who are on your cruise. Oh well it could be worse-headed for Cozumel tomorrow. May main concern is my car in Galveston although I have (somewhat) elevated parking

(17,577 posts)And I'm preparing and WE aren't even going to get anywhere near the worst of it. I am usually very intuitive and I have a very bad feeling about this one. I would love to be wrong. I have many good friends in Corpus, Brownsville and Houston.
I hope people are heeding the warnings and taking proper precautions. This is not a time for anyone to try to be a hero. Mother Nature always wins.
Everyone, please be safe!!!

Some place along the Texas Gulf Coast is going to have a big problem very soon. Find out if you're in its path and act accordingly.

(3,827 posts)The company I was working with at the time was there a couple of days after it hit MS and LA- It was the worse devastation I had ever seen from a hurricane. The memory of that will never leave my mind was the landfill for all of the dead animals. And the smell off I-10 was that of rotting flesh for months.
Btw I live in NC and we have had our share of catastrophic storms.
