it prominently featured Hazel. The pictures were devastating, horrible. I wondered how people could go on after an event like that.

One man had a Dr.Pepper delivery route. He knew back roads and made it to the Myrtle Beach area.
He said he would fore er remember all of the houses floating in the ocean.

1975. I remember the Supt of Schools telling me that "Hazel made a Christian out of everyone". Visited Charleston, SC four years after Hugo and cried for hours at the damage. I taught in Berkeley County in 1978-1980. Now TX. I taught in Houston 1980-1982. Scared for my friends down there.
