when this made the rounds over at the fiber art group.

Anybody who drives a car automatically has at least 10, I think.

Electronics, living in a house, eating heartily, medicines and toiletries, and having a relatively small wardrobe by Western standards raised my score. I don't think people are being honest or the sample is too small because you'd think the average score would be higher. I think there's some self-selection at play in this survey.

And I reported a pretty small wardrobe... have several CD players & stereos, but most are old..... dunno about this methodology - seems to work against those of us who keep old stuff for a long time.

which works against the overall score.

Also, any other older than dirt people who noticed you go from 'normal' looking to being a granny in your mid-fifties in this program?

but I must tell you, if I have anywhere near 22 full time slaves they are not very productive slaves.

They should ask how old your stuff is and how often you buy a new TV or Stereo or whatever.

With all this old stuff that I have had for years my 22 slaves must have had most of the last 5 years off.

I think that this is great- I knew most of the facts given and they left out the entire food system which accounts for an outrageous amount of slavery..... but it is a great thing for people to think about and try to incorporate into their buying decisions.

think they have better working conditions. Better yet, check for Made in the USA! and maybe let the store know your preferences. Every little bit counts.

I'm pretty depressed looking at that score. Not sure how I can take it down but I am resolved to get a lower score next year. Very eye-opening. Thanks for posting this.

I'd like to see them differentiate between purchased food and grown, between new clothing/etc and used.

Interesting though.

The survey does not calculate for recycled goods-
Most of my belongings come from thrift stores or local
crafts people.
So, I see a problem with their calculation.

if you want a guilt trip. It had me list my age and gender, how am I going to change those? OK, I could have sexual reassignment surgery, but then it would involve making slaves of medical workers.

Maybe it's best to focus on the fields where people really are being paid less than what they're worth, as opposed to some black-box game that tries to finger us all. I cannot possibly seeing this sort of thing working with those who have the most "slaves". They're just going to dismiss it as a gimmick.
