(26,113 posts)Love how big hearted the people of Texas are with everything they are doing to help their neighbors and others. No racism being reported here, just acts of kindness for others during such a desperate situation.

(5,901 posts)Houston is an incredibe melting pot where there are culture centers for people from all over the world. Because there's never been zoning, people of all ages, incomes, races, and religions live together in our neighborhoods. People are friendly and speak to everyone in Houston. That's what America is seeing this week.

(24,726 posts)And, to be effective, he needs hours and hours of driving experience, especially at high speed.
He's a generous and thoughtful person.

(928 posts)His big smile and thumbs up, he's enjoying the hell outta this. Doesn't see it as a burden, but is genuinely enjoying being a part of the rescue. God bless him.

(928 posts)My Monday nights are the highlight of my week. That's when I serve others in my community at a pop up food line. Every week we set up tables in the park and serve dinner to roughly 150 people. I have a whole lot of fun. I enjoy being in service to those who need it the most. If you're not having fun you're doing it wrong

(98,883 posts)people, that isn't my idea of fun. It is like a war zone.
You are doing it because it is necessary
We are talking semantics, not disagreeing with the need or intent

all over again that easily. Best of luck to her and her neighbors.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
