(15,630 posts)The ones that read that will fervently believe Obama was president during Katrina, and that he was golfing. Any attempt to remind them that Shrubbie was prez will get you an eye roll and a "Yeah, right."

(44,585 posts)....with his "What a crowd! What a turnout!" thing, which arguably was the most photogenic spontaneous moment for Dubya in all his eight years as president (nevertheemind that his promise to get Bin Laden was empty and hollow).
Of course, that was after an intentional act of violence and long after the act had ended. Here, it's during a natural disaster and while the disaster is still very much unfolding.
And someone might want to tell him that invoking George W. Bush during a hurricane response probably won't help his image all that much.

(10,589 posts)False news stories, especially about politics, have been circulating online for some time now, with the 2016 election acting as a lightning rod for them. There have also been plenty of hoaxes in the wake of Hurricane Harveys disastrous impacts on Texasnotably fooling Fox News into running a fake picture of a shark in flood watersand those two phenomena finally combined for something truly absurd.
In what I have to believe started as propaganda by Twitter bots, a line began circulating that accused President Obama of golfing during Hurricane Katrina rather than doing anything about it:
