He sued and got lots of money. Then he got elected and helped to pass legislation su that nobody else can sue.

He has been partially paralyzed since the mid 80s. He was jogging in the affluent area (River Oaks) in Houston and a tree fell on him that was weak from a storm.

He also sued the homeowner and a tree care company and won (of course) and got millions from the settlement.
