Authorities warn of dangers of wading in contaminated waters in Harvey’s wake

Fears of cholera and typhoid added to the challenges facing Texas in the devastating wake of Tropical storm Harvey, as medical officials in Houston on Thursday warned residents not to wade in the city’s flood water.

Scientists at Texas A&M university found that tested water in the area had E Coli levels 125 times higher than what is considered safe for swimming, and 15 times more than considered safe for wading.

Officials warned that contaminated water could lead to diseases in the area including cholera and typhoid.

This new threat to public health came as Greg Abbott, Texas governor, said the state might need more than $125bn from the federal government.

I hope it takes a sharp turn to the north very soon.

Be safe if it doesn't!

She'll turn WNW - Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Florida and the Carolinas are less secure although I still think Irma will be another fish storm. It's way too early to worry about this one.
