I am many years past menopause, but can well remember (don't think women ever forget) the, at least, monthly requirement for these essentials. All I read and hear about, regarding Harvey recovery, are bedding and baby products. But there is a massive, yet unspoken, need for these items that nobody wants to mention. I've helped. Anybody else?

(36,926 posts)I used to send my husband out to get my sanitary items, because of embarrassment and other psychological stuff, such as fearing a male clerk might think about me "in that way." When I did get those things myself I would deliberately choose a female clerk for check out.

(14,624 posts)Thousands of people work in this building. The building management is sponsoring a drive to collect all sorts of items needed in Texas. They will be taken to a church in Metairie, LA, where all items will be packed into semis and delivered to Texas.
Yesterday I bought a TON of feminine hygiene products . . . tampons, pads . . . and brought them to work to donate.
This is happening all over South Louisiana. We remember how Texans helped us after Katrina.

(5,801 posts)Quebec is offering to help Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and is at the ready for when officials there say they need it, says Minister of International Relations Christine St-Pierre.
St-Pierre says she spoke with Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos Tuesday early afternoon, offering to send equipment and crews to help restore power and to provide blankets, beds, pillows and hygienic products.
Above all, St-Pierre said she called to voice Quebec's concern for Texans caught up in the disaster.
"It was a conversation about how devastating the situation is and we want to express our support to the people of Texas," she told CBC News.
Pablos declined the aid for now, instead asking for "prayers from the people of Quebec," the minister said. "He was very touched by the fact we called him."
