Whether your church was open as a refuge or not during the hurricane, the perception is that it wasn't. As a corollary to that the perception is that you were more worried about your possessions than you were about helping those in need.
True or not, once a perception is spread around it is nearly impossible to refute.
Democrats and the left have spent decades dealing with false perceptions planted by biased news organizations and yes, by religious organizations.
So now you are dealing with what so many have had to deal with in this country for decades. True or not perception is reality. I happen to believe that the perception also happens to reflect reality in this case.

By the way, read the book you claim to represent. There are some rather interesting lessons for you in the books called Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Pay particular attention to the character named "Jesus" and how he interacts with the society and people of his time.

(4,461 posts)... that's why he's working very hard to create the perception that his church was open to storm victims earlier than it was. If he claims it enough, and creates enough confusion about it, his followers will continue to send him checks. That's the only reality he's interested in.
