Make America Great Again on eBay

I was on eBay shopping for a new wallet and found what I wanted, at a low price, from a seller with a 99.2% approval rating.
Then I noticed the name of the eBay shop is "makeamericagreatagain16".

I clicked on their site and the first thing I saw was the red MAGA ball cap.

I decided to buy from another seller, for a little more money.

Great decision. I would also write to the original seller. Very polite, but something like Squinch Sep 2017 #4

However the idea behind it is extremely funny.

not to mix one's politics with business. Selling political hats and bumper stickers is one thing, but naming your shop "makeamerciagreatagain16" is just plain stupid. Of course, there are a lot of Trump supporters (for now) who might do business with him/her, but I wonder if it is enough to offset all the people who choose to shop elsewhere.

Biggest ever approval rating. Everyone loves this seller. Huge crowds buying from this seller.

Nah, don't trust them.

13. eBay sets the approval ratings

After you buy something, eBay sends you a link where you rate the seller on such things as:

Did the item arrive in the time promised?

Was the product as described?

If you had to contact the seller, did they respond quickly?

Etc.

The rating also shows how many buyers rated the seller.
(You have to have bought something from the seller to rate them)

Checking the seller just now, “makeamericagreatagain2016“ was reviewed by 26,783 buyers and they have a
98.9% positive feedback

(I was wrong in saying 99.2%)

Excellent, but I wouldn't buy from them.

I was being sarcastic.

However, those ratings don't really mean anything when someone with a low 90s or into the 80s is suspect. There have been times I went with someone a little more expensive because the first person had something like a 92% rating.

I choose my seller by ratings (and quality of the book),
but wouldn't buy from anyone I suspect of being a Trump supporter.
