Wednesday was August 30th.
They had Christmas trees on display.

(1,257 posts)That smell makes me want to hurl.
You gotta' walk by that shit, 'cause they put the bins at the entrance!
It is likely carcinogenic, like the occupant of the Whiter House.

(51,308 posts)Some people really love the Christmas season, so I wish them all the joy they can get from it.
I used to love it too. My family is gone now, so it's just a blip on my radar screen. I'll probably still make a nice dinner for friends, buy some small gifts.
This Christmas will be a difficult one for me because my mother's last Christmas was last year. But seeing merchandise in store is the absolute last thing that bothers me. The very last.
Truly cannot imagine getting in a state of anger just because of Christmas trees. Boggles my mind.

Thanks for the sweet post.

(30,031 posts)For some, lay-a-way might be how they afford a tree. For those, it could take a few months to pay it off.
I don't care to see it right now but after years of poverty I can understand why it's there.

(15,805 posts)She did take down most of the outdoor displays, but the icicle lights were on every night, and even in summer they were cheery. She had the interior decorated to the max, lavishly bedecked trees in all the rooms, each decked out in a different theme. There was garland, ribbon bows, stockings on the mantle, even faux mistletoe, everywhere you looked it was like a magazine photo layout.
Every time I visited, regardless of the season, there was a christmassy music and a holiday aroma of spices or pumpkin pie. She would serve freshly baked iced christmas cookies and strong coffee with a melting square of chocolate. She as the happiest person I've ever known.
