There's some seriously problematic-ass lyrics in some of those songs, though Warren DeMontague Sep 2017 #10

Real stalkers provoke disgust and/or terror as we frantically dial the cops and hope they get there before the piece of shit breaks in and kills us.

It's one reason I can't stand 60s teenybopper movies, they were all like that.

The saying "man chases woman until she catches him" was a way everyone thought and acted.

It was socially expected for men to be aggressive and for women to be demure. If a woman was too open to being 'caught' she was considered 'easy'. Or to use today's jargon, a slut.

Context matters. This movie is from 1964. Looking at it through a 2017 lens colors it. I didn't live then but I can see how what was acceptable then is different.

That is much more blatant. It's definitely not the highlight moment for me. And it shows the change in what is and isn't acceptable. Of course there are still songs with questionable lyrics.

Baby It's Cold Outside.

I really can't stay (but baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to go away (but baby, it's cold outside)
This evening has been (been hoping that you'd drop in)
So very nice (i'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)
My mother will start to worry (beautiful what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (listen to the fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry (beautiful please don't hurry)
But maybe just a half a drink more (put some records on while I pour)
The neighbors might think (baby, it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink? (no cabs to be had out there)
