Charity Navigator is fairly reliable..in terms of finding fake charities and rating reliable ones.
If you donate to top rated charities, you know a great percentage of your donation...goes for the purpose intended..not for administrative expenses such as salaries, cars, vacations, etc..

but yes, the percentage should be low - when they are very high, it is likely there are big salaries involved
