I would like to think that because he's old, Mr. Mercer will be gone someday soon and he won't be a problem anymore but the Mercer family will be a problem for a long time to come I'm afraid. As long as you can use money to get your way despite the will of the people they will never stop. His daughter Rebekah will continue his evil activities long after he's gone and I'm 100% certain she'll indoctrinate her kid/kids into this twisted worldview of Mr. Mercer.
