Oklahoma City to discuss schools links to Confederate figures

During a meeting Tuesday, Oklahoma City Public Schools officials will face the question of whether they should rename four of the district’s schools to eliminate their links to Confederate figures. The schools -- Jackson, Lee, Stand Watie and Wheeler elementary schools -- are believed to be named for the Confederate generals.

Superintendent Aurora Lora has said she will seek input from the communities around the schools to see if they want to change the names.

"We want to think about the people that our buildings are named after and whether they represent the values that we as a district have at this time," Lora said in August ...
