Why do Nazis think they own the rights to free speech?

I think we need to start asking this question. It seems every time a Nazi, or someone else from the ultra far right is arrested or interviewed, they are always quick to cry free speech whenever possible, like it's a get out of jail free card. But it isn't. And someone apparently did not teach them what "irony" means. Nazism is not free speech. In fact it's the opposite of free speech. The sooner the MAGA idiots get that, the better.

The thing is - they're playing an extremely dangerous game with free speech right now, and if a case ever went to SCOTUS, regardless of the outcome, we would all lose. And that won't be good for anybody.

...and then to be discarded when no longer useful.

They can invoke the principle of freedom of speech today and then embrace censorship tomorrow without turning a hair. They have weaponized hypocrisy.

the reason they have shame about their hypocrisy is that they don't see it as hypocritical at all. they are consistent in using whatever tools and arguments and catch-phrases serve their purposes.

the filibuster is a time-honored deliberative technique when they use it, and inexcusable obstruction when democrats use it, e.g.

sounds hypocritical, but they see it as consistently fighting for tax cuts or whatever law they're trying to accomplish.

if you're in a sword fight and one moment you use the sword, and the next moment you use the shield to protect yourself from your opponent's sword, is that hypocritical? are you pro-sword or anti-sword? silly question, obviously you're just doing whatever you need to do to win the fight.

that's the way they see it.

everyone else is wrong and shouldn't be protected.

it's the basic view of a three year old; he gets into an argument and hating everyone when they don't agree with him.

...because they deny any kind of freedom in any matter to any is not one of them.

What they call "freedom of speech" is nothing else than spreading hatred.

They forgot that One person's freedom ends where another's begins.

"When you don't have the facts, argue the law." The facts don't support their polemics, but the law permits them.

It should go without saying that permission is not approval, but they can't handle that.

to freely march streets spewing genocidal hate speech?

Idiotic. Americans may be waking up to the horrific consequences of hate speakers not only not being banned but also coddled by the courts.

Sit back. Relax. Enjoy the entirely predictable results.

They think that they are entitled/ owed to whatever platform they want. They think we all have to give them a place to spew their hatred and when we don't give it to them they think that is against free speech. And when we respond with our own free speech they think that is censorship.

They are owed nothing and they cannot stop us from speaking against them!

Fuck the fascists!!!

Popular speech doesn't require protection.

The existence of a small number of odious Nazi thugs and their embrace of an evil ideology are not cause for this liberal to abandon the freedoms enshrined in our founding document.

Nay, defense of Consitution rights and protections is more import now more than ever.

If we fail to defend liberal values is when the Nazis win.
