Following a 16-month Federal grand jury probe, Bakker was indicted in 1988 on eight counts of mail fraud, 15 counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy.[8][15] In 1989, after a five-week trial which began on August 28 in Charlotte, the jury found him guilty on all 24 counts, and Judge Robert Daniel Potter sentenced him to 45 years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine.

These nutball fundie preachers can't seem to figure out why God keeps punishing America with natural disasters. If God wanted Trump to be president and he's God's guy, why would he (God) be sending us hurricanes - especially to states his guy won, like Texas and Florida? Why isn't he sending hurricanes to Massachusetts and Minnesota? God can do anything, right?

And even if God isn't mocked, numpties like Jim Bakker are, and they deserve every bit of it.

Let's not be too hasty to write this off as the demented rantings of a bitter ex-con. Okay, that's long enough; still the demented rantings of a bitter ex-con.

Weird to think that she traded up in making the switch to Sam Kinison, but there you have it.

I'm sorry, but this old conman is long past his sell-by date. He peddled that prosperity theology crap, so the only thing he's worried about is the millions affected by Hurricane Harvey won't be ponying up enough cash to support his preferred lifestyle.

The same people he railed against in the 80s are inexplicably still alive and still on TV, yet Zappa is no longer with us. Proof that good people die young and pricks live forever!
