Eagle Creek Wildfire-Destroying the Columbia River Gorge as we speak-multiple towns evac'd

This is stunning....

We woke to layers of ash-at least it wasn't the frantic knocking of Sheriff crews evacuating people. We saw many carloads of people with animal crates etc...And a few horse trailers. It is a huge loss as it is a pristine gem in a historic location. Even the Multnomah falls lodge is endangered.

Overnight video at link.

On a decently clear day, I can see the five mountains (Rainier, St. Helens, Adams, Hood, and Jefferson) from my office window. Today, I can't even see Mt. Tabor just a couple of miles away.

We're getting a break today since a cool front came through from the east. Day after tomorrow, we'll get the haze from all the fires back.

It's nice not having that elephant sitting on my chest for a couple of days.
