Majority of Trump voters approved of DACA

Emily Karl 3 hrs ago

A majority of Trump voters polled before the election and in April expressed support for DACA, the Obama-era program to shield illegal immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children, from deportation.

In April of 2017, 73% of Trump voters said "Dreamers" should be allowed to stay in the United States and become legal residents, with 48% saying they should be able to become citizens, according to a Morning Consult poll.

Just before the election, more than two-thirds of Trump voters approved of the policy, via an American National Election Study poll.

Why this matters: Despite the support, Attorney General Jeff Sessions just announced the phase-out of DACA over six months, leaving it up to Congress to replace the program.

After the ouster of Steve Bannon there was some talk about a right-wing insurgency against the administration. The DACA move was probably made in order to shore up Trump's hardcore base.

BIG problem though. A lot of the people who voted for him are uneducated and could never fill those jobs unless they can afford to go to college and since that is pretty much being made out of reach for the poor where does that leave them? I say in the same damn place they have been. I do not remember trump ever saying college or higher learning would be available just the false promise that lower education would be so called better. If this actually happens this country is so fucked.
