I'll never forget him during Katrina when he was head of NHC. Still when he's on Florida TV it's not good news - He's like Jim Cantore.

4. Max Mayfield is light years the best

I watch Channel 10 (ABC) exclusively for local Irma coverage. Mayfield spotlights the most reliable models and always provides calm level headed analysis and advice.

It really stood out to me last year during Matthew. The local FOX affiliate predictably was trying to scare everybody upon every update. Mayfield was at least ten levels up from them.

Right now the local Canes fans on sports message boards are trying to push the weather guy on Channel 6 as best. He's okay but not in Mayfield's league.

The young black woman -- Betty? -- on Channel 10 is impressive also.

6. He stood out for me during Katrina

He showed up the Bush administration big time. Betty is well qualified but she has insecurity problems or I wouldn't be hearing Chief Certified Meteorologist so often
