Hurricane Irma pictures show first scenes of devastation after hitting Caribbean

The first pictures have emerged showing the devastation left behind by Hurricane Irma after it made its first landfall in the Caribbean.
It is the most powerful recorded Atlantic Ocean hurricane in recorded history and has left a trail of devastation with more on the way.
Footage from St Martin shows a flooded area around the port after a sea surge and battered boats in the harbour.
Hurricane Irma is roaring along a path pointing to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba before possibly heading for Florida over the weekend.
The eye of the storm passed over Barbuda at around 1.47am, the US National Weather Service said. Residents said over local radio that phone lines went down.
