Brevard is way south of there and on the coast. I imagine anyone who was going to leave Brevard County would have left by now.

My sister and parents left at 10 a.m. yesterday and didn't have trouble getting to Savannah at all.

We went over to Gainesville and were shocked how well I-75 was moving since the storm was projected to shift west. We actually came back to Brevard County this morning instead of continuing to Georgia.

I've been following him for about 20 years now. When my daughter went to Tulane University in New Orleans, I wanted to find someone who knew what they were talking about concerning hurricanes. If you've ever been to The Big Easy, you know why. He's always been a fountain of knowledge, and his advice was well heeded when I wanted my girl to get the heck out of N.O. because of approaching weather.

I'm on Merritt Island, prepared to shelter in place or evacuate. It's going to be bad for S FL, I really feel for those poor folks. I just hope it's not so bad when it gets to us. Our house (built in 1963, part of the space race building boom) has weathered several hurricanes, so if it hits us as Cat 3 or less we should be ok, meaning we'll still have a roof.

at his wife's Coral Gables house. They've just done a large multi-year strengthening and fortifying rehab on the place. I'm not too worried about the structure of the house, but I am worried about flooding. They're right on the edge of the University of Miami, so they're a bit inland. The wind and surge will be blowing water up the drainage canals.

I just did a 6 foot sea level rise on Florida Atlantic University's Web App http://citizeneyes.org/app/#tab1 and it looks like they're high enough. I hope so.
