It just dawned on me that I know someone who is headed there - family visit. And it's such a historic city, I hope it doesn't head that far north. This is shaping up to be bigger than we've ever experienced before. I'm in NE New York and we've had our share of bad storms recently here, too. High winds, trees down, power outages, and that's not even counting Hurricanes Irene (which was the worst in my area, lots of flooding and damage) and Sandy.

back in the late 80's. Hugo was so strong that after it made landfall in Charleston, it continued ploughing inland for a few hundred miles. It was still at hurricane strength when it passed directly over us here in the foothills of NC. Irma concerns me, so I'm making disaster plans and preparing for it.
