The weather guy on CNN just said....

that wind speeds have been clocked at 210mph with Irma.
My God, if you're in Florida, I seriously hope you are getting the hell out. Those are tornado winds at EF4 strength for hours on end.
Godspeed.....

But most projections show it being a 4 when it hits south florida, a 3 as it continues off the coast of east florida and a 1 when it reaches south carolina.

If you're in a mandatory evacuation area, then yes, leave. Otherwise, bunker down, be in a safe place and you'll be fine. Enough fear mongering.

I'm gonna wager this Hurricane and this one about to arrive dwarf any fake cost Trump worried about. Trump saves dimes to not work on a problem that's going to cost 100 of billions not once but on a regular basis. That's good leadership.

I saw so many people from TX who were so sad over the loss of pictures - perhaps wrap your albums and framed photos in big plastic bags and put them high up? I know other than my cats, that's what I'd be trying to protect - they're irreplaceable.

They're going to leave the cranes unlocked, though, so they can shift freely with the wind like a weather vane. Sounds like the least worst choice.

Plus mobile homes and other substandard housing.
There is no way the entire peninsula can be evacuated and no need for it.

Many of us have done this before. This one looks to be bad, but most Floridians are best off staying in their homes.

I95/I75, US19 and the other north south feeder highways are jammed. A few accidents or vehicles out of gas and it'll be shelter in your car.

I'd rather shelter in place. Got tarps and ammunition (yeah, I know), got ice and a generator, a small fridge, water and food for now.I am 57 feet above sea level so flooding isn't a concern. Roof penetration may be, but I'll try to stop that.

Not being snide, stupid or pushing for a fight. Just couldn't get anywhere anyway.

Peace out.
