She just raked in some wins no matter how you look at it.

Those individuals were very short-sighted and divisive. I believe they're being influenced by the "burn-it-down" and the "destroy-to-rebuild" subset of Stein-voters and other assorted defenders and sympathizers.

(5,272 posts)There was nothing at all he offered that the left would prefer over Pelosi, so you can't put all calls to replace her as speaker in the same basket.
Whether they are right to want something different is worth challenging, but it doesn't change the fact that there were no far left voices actually supporting Tim Ryan's bid.
Weekend Warrior
(1,301 posts)That doesn't match up with reality. At all.

(5,272 posts)I just did a search of some of the people I listen to and they were all down on him. I'll grant that there's no way I could have actually done the research necessary to make as bold a claim as I did, but it would strike me as odd if somebody on the far left wanted Ryan, since he hardly represents the progressive wing of the party. Just point me to the person and I'll entirely retract my statement.

(459 posts)...and they were all for Ryan, not bothering to learn a thing about him.
To them, it's all about stiggint to the Democratic party for betraying saint Sanders, helped along will large dollops of conspiracy theories, and coffee house antifa white privilege goons.
But that's Portlandia for you.
JCanete
(5,272 posts)make you far left, or even suggest you necessarily lean progressive. That they were pro Ryan actually suggests that they hardly know where they themselves are on the spectrum. That or they made really bad assumptions when they bought into him as a challenger. It seems odd as fuck to me though that people would jump to the conclusion that any challenger is a good challenger, without actually sitting down and looking at that person's record.
Either way, they certainly don't offer the kind of legitimacy to the claim I was looking for, which would require them to be actual left-leaning talking heads, politicians or activists.

(459 posts)I canvass, so I can't fool myself about how ready the public is for a lot of progressive proposals.
I spent a ton of time working on Oregon's Measure 97 only to watch it go down.
I knew it was in trouble when I was having to persuade Democrats.
But the people I'm talking about all call themselves "far-left", though they never actually do much to advance it. Seems more like an excuse to look down on people, mostly.
Still, there are enough of them, and I won't tell them they're not what they say they are. Mostly I just try to ignore them.

It worked when they went after Hillary and pursed their lips when they said her name over and over again. And the most admired politician in the world became hated for half the country.

Some don't learn: There is NOTHING this GOP wants that is for the greater good.
And no matter how much some of them may "object" to Trump or his actions, they fall in line to make sure the GOP prevails.
They don't need help from Democrats.
