Trajectory for Irma is now going straight up Florida. Euro Models have the eye going up from Miami and up Central Florida.
Good news, by the time it leaves Florida, it will prob be a Cat 1.

(6,121 posts)There is no path that is good, and it will still be at least a Cat 2 even if it rides the absolute middle of the peninsula. Otherwise, it would be a Cat 3 off the Georgia coast. The route up the spine of Florida would have huge storm surges on east and west coasts of Florida.
Yes, the storm surge would be less in GA, SC, and NC but moving the suffering elsewhere does not make it good news.
