demanding medicare for all. Medicare for all might be feasible if the entire American health care system is reformed. But simply demanding 'medicare for all' does nothing to address the very disparate and powerful interests in the existing system.

To all the folks who think medicare is 'single payer', I have medicare and I also have a supplemental insurance policy to cover all the things basic medicare doesn't cover.

5. This just in: Sheldon Whitehouse will cosponsor the “Medicare for All” single-payer health insurance bill that Bernie Sanders is introducing next week. “Senator Whitehouse intends to cosponsor this bill to move the conversation forward on single-payer health care,” spokeswoman Meaghan McCabe told me Friday night. “The senator will also continue to press for legislation to create a public health insurance option, which he co-authored with Senators Brown and Franken, and has long supported.” Jack Reed’s office has not yet said whether he will sign onto Sanders’ legislation, which is already emerging as a high-profile litmus test for Democrats.

Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey on Monday became the latest to offer support for Sanders' legislation.

"I'm signing onto Medicare-for-all, which I'm excited to do this week," Booker said in an interview with NJTV. "Sen. Sanders, myself, and some others are going to be announcing some legislation this week along with some of my other colleagues."

This shell of a bill won't advance progress. It is all for show and that's not good enough.
