(51,650 posts)Or should I say nuclear scientist? With global warming I certainly hope city planners will keep the changing weather in mind when they boulder anywhere in the future.
Originally NY City had all of its electrical and telephone wires above ground. The heavy weight on the lines during snow storms was a problem so they put them underground. Now that is no longer a good option since during Sandy they found out how flat the city is and floods easily. The Fed Govt will not do any infrastructure planning with weather in mind as long as the GOP is in charge so it will fall on the states to be responsible and we all know how well that goes (TX).

Cal. builds them on earthquake fault lines.
