What happened to my FB?

When I open it on my laptop now, fully 1/3 is ads! I had to clear my cache and reboot, etc. View is completely changed and I'm ready to meh it... especially with the news about them selling ads to Russian bots / election disruptors or whatever.

and turn all the trackers and ad bots off. A lot of pages won't load if you do that, so be careful with it.

Who has some rosemary I can come clip?

And even more mundane stuff.

info which states there is an opt-out provision, but it failed when FB's instructions did not correspond to the cookies instructions available to me on Chrome. Arghh!

I understand that ads are needed to fund but most sites are so ad filled they are not readable. Even HuffPost and DU.. DU to a lesser extent, have so many ads it's hard to find the news. The local online newspaper starts off with a covering ad that is crazy and the little movie things follow down the page. I have been on FB almost from the start and love reading online stuff but the ads are becoming overwhelming and some are gross. I'm not ready to quit reading online but it's getting close. Good thing I'm old. LOL

called AdBlock.

LOVE it, and almost couldn't do the internet without it.

Edited: I should add that occasionally I have to whitelist a site or turn it off in order to actually see the content I'm interested in, but that's a small price to pay.
