ANN ARBOR, MI - Javier and Jose Contreras .. were brought .. to the United States .. when they were 4 and 5 ...

... they both graduated from Skyline High School .. and received two-year, full-ride scholarships to .. Washtenaw Community College.

Javier is now 22 and studying computer science at the University of Michigan. Jose is 23 and studying cognitive science at UM. They're both set to graduate next spring ...

... "I'm sick and tired of everyone telling me to just become legal. There is no way for me just to become legal. I want that. I want to prove to you guys that I'm just as American as all of you, but I currently have no way, and my best hope is that out of all of this, something changes so I can become American" ...

but I thought someone in the country on DACA couldn't receive scholarships to any institution of higher learning? I hope I'm mistaken, because if they have the talent they should receive it like anyone else, but I thought I read that in an earlier post here on DU.

That the can not receive federal financial aid, but there is nothing stopping an institution or organization from granting a scholarship.

5. Private colleges are free to award scholarships however they want. Many Catholic schools
