For as much as I absolutely despise Donald Trump, I might loathe Speaker of the House Paul Ryan more. A hypocritical, sniveling weasel with a clear disdain for the poor, Ryan is nothing more than a gutless coward whos spent most of his political career trying to screw over the majority of Americans for the benefit of the richest among us.
There are many sad realities that Trumps rise to the top of the GOP has exposed about Republicans, but one thing that stands out is how its shone a bright light on the weakness of Paul Ryan. Time after time hes been forced to publicly condemn something Trumps said or done, yet hes never had the strength to do the right thing and directly stand up to the current president.
No matter how inexcusable or deplorable Trumps behavior has gotten, Ryans supported and defended him, even though its abundantly clear he knows this president is unfit for office.
Its this cowardice that MSNBC conservative analyst Nicolle Wallace mocked on Thursday while discussing remarks the Speaker of the House made following the spending deal Trump struck with Democrats that Ryan had called disgraceful earlier in the day. She insisted that Ryan needed to act like a man instead of letting Trump constantly make a fool out of him.

(205,202 posts)It's kinda sad that it takes someone as bad as Palin or Trump to alienate Republican voters, but anyone who continues to support Trump no matter what ridiculous idea he comes up with - like Ryan - ends up looking like a fool. Trump may be only concerned with placating his shrinking base, but members of Congress are facing elections...

(32,079 posts)...the republicans are fighting among themselves??? That, right there, pretty much says everything you want to know about the current GOP. The only way the opposition party can have any input is to have these assholes infighting. Lovely.
That smarmy, little twerp, Paul Ryan, has always been showing his true colors. I really don't know why these people are shocked to see it now. What they saw this week is what he has always been. The same goes for Mitch McConnell and the vast majority of House and Senate republicans. They've always been that way.
