1. Nobody "deserves" this

I don't want to hear what the death toll and the cost of this storm will be. I have friends who live in Naples, very worried about them. They didn't evacuate, but they did move to a more secure location. Their house may not be in good shape after this is all over.

I've never wanted to visit your state; you see, I really, reallly hate heat and humidity, and prefer to let you have all the bugs. I also don't have a great deal of respect for Republicans and other right-wing ideologues, but we find those in all states.

Do know, though, that I'm holding ALL of Florida's people, pets, and other living things in my thoughts and my heart today, even those Republicans and other right-wingers, and hoping for the best for all of you.

Evacuated from Venice to Atlanta, took pictures of my house before we left since after this week we may have only a memory of our home. I especially wanted pictures of my flowers and plants. Staying with loving and kind friends.

Hope i go back in couple of days and just clean up. I hope.

WE are having great fun with our friends offering to wave at our house as it flies over. Only humor, love and kindness can help.

If anyone gives me a bad time in person I am likely to be in jail for assault. Politicians best beware of their lies and insensitivy.

15. I'm watching the storm

Two foot storm surge downtown Miami - read that those high rises have basement power plants.


Ahead of the storm, some of the bays are emptying. People are walking around in Tampa Bay. I hope those people will get to shelter before storm surge floods the area.

16. There were some stupid, insensitive, bigoted snipes taken at Houston.

I actually alerted (my first ever alert, just really torqued me) on one nasty comment to the effect that Houston deserved it and maybe the residents would take climate change as a threat and not a hoax.
For a while DU tried to do something about such posts with regional insults and blanket observations about all people who lived in states that were considered especially beknighted but that didn't last too long.
We Texans and you Floridians seem to get a lot of that.
