I'd have flipped him off if I was that guy. I bet that guy knows more about storms than you, Chris.

(43,888 posts)Temperatures right now water and air near the hurricane are 80 degrees F. Normal core body temperature is around 98.6 F. Hypothermia occurs as your body temperature falls below 95 F.
So prolonged exposure to water, even at 80 F, can drop core body temperature enough to cause problems.
