Congratulations, President Trump. You have brought back the lynching of black people.

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/09/new-hampshire-police-refuse-to-discuss-apparent-lynching-of-8-year-old-biracial-boy/

A group of white teens attacked an 8-year-old biracial boy and hanged him by a noose, his family says, and police in Claremont, NH are refusing to release information in the case.

The Root’s Angela Helm reported on Sunday that an 8-year-old biracial boy was hanged by a rope around his neck by other juveniles in what his grandmother said was a racist attack.

As the child was being flown by a medevac to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, his mother Cassandra Merlin posted to Facebook, “So my son is being flown to Dartmouth after a 14 year old kid decided to hang him from a tree. I don’t care if this was a so called accident or not. My son almost died because of some little sh*t teenage kids.”

----------------------

Obama's legacy?
- a landmark healthcare legislation
- got Osama Bin Laden
- inspirational figure and champion of equality

Trump's legacy? (so far)
- literal Nazis marching in the streets
- historians warning of rising fascism
- racist hate-crimes are up
- pardoned a Sheriff who did unconstitutional racist shit
- lynchings are back

Now, before we jump to conclusions: I'm sure, some of those white teenagers hanging the black boy with a noose are actually fine young people.

He said that unlike the adult judicial system, which is aimed at punishment, the juvenile justice system is designed to correct and rehabilitate aberrant behavior.

“These people need to be protected,” Chase said. “Mistakes they make as a young child should not have to follow them for the rest of their life.”

“Notice how he called these predators ‘young children,'” wrote Helm, “infantilizing the white teens. Conversely, teens like Trayvon Martin are made out to be hulking, menacing adults. Chief Chase seems to be centering the perpetrators feelings and futures, all but forgetting about the trauma of a little boy who had his so-called friends hang him from a tree to the point where he had to be medevaced to a hospital.”

There was a sharp rise in racist acts during the Obama years. There is a world wide rise in racism and far right parties during periods of economic stress. We had the great recession and while the Obama economy was overall good, the growth of automation has taken a lot of jobs that were once the ticket to a solid middle class life (especially for white men without college degrees).

Trump certainly doesn't help matters and does his best to appeal to that demographic (including being happy to blame things on those who look different - muslims, immigrants etc), but I think the growth in feelings of racial animus is what let Trump win the Republican nomination and helped make the election close enough in a few states for him to win the Electoral College.

...of intolerance of racism and any acts associated with racism. The responsibility to do such is in line with the constitution, bull of rights and Social mores America is known for. Yet he's shown us he'll do the opposite.

Trump knew the duties required of holding the office of president. Holding that office gives him the power to influence society, law, policy, etc the world over for decades. His actions speaks to he likes that type of power, imho. He also has definite opinions/ideas about what should and shouldn't be allowed and therefore will guide the nation toward those ways. He displayed who he is firing the campaign and the way he lived his life up to the campaign. Yet enough people are disheartened enough in life to be disillusioned/denial. There's a saying: You cannot serve two masters at the same time. When you invest yourself in racism, you cannot also invest yourself in equality irregardless of race.

"Mistakes they make as a young child should not have to follow them for the rest of their life.”

Would he feel the same were black boys intending to harm/kill a white boy?

That statement is a profound way of saying the boys that perpetrated the hanging were wrong in what they did BUT they shouldn't have long lasting consequences.

OMG! I'm more and more furious the more I research this. God help this country. God help us all.

The County Attorney is, at best, a fool. Bullying culture is strong there. Over the last 40 years, a thriving manufacturing base has been trashed by absentee ownership and mismanagement.
There is an ugly underclass, and some creepy fundies. Along with plenty of the white powder de jure, since the '70's.
Population is down 40% in Claremont, the City has torn down about 1/2 the houses in this neighborhood.
The Chief is trying to minimize this, because he has little means to deal with it. And Mrs Mopar and I Are looking at houses in that neighborhood!
Race is the wild card here, which gave it viral status. Reality is that "the good kids" have been getting a pass on rancid behavior for a long time.

But its not ok to jump to some biblical 'Lock up these animals forever' position in retaliation. These disturbed children are still children, they weren't born racist or murderous, they were corrupted by sick attitudes handed down by their parents and communities. Get them the hell away from those influences and see if there's still time to rehabilitate them into society, so we don't spend the next 60 years with even more racist, murderous people in society, which will be the inevitable result if they're just locked up for 10 years before being released back into the world.

No-one under the age of 18 is fully emotionally developed (and even that is low for a lot of people), they should always be given a chance to see the world through a kinder more tolerant lens, and learn a way of living that their parents denied them.
