Okay, I know this isn't the most urgent thing to post, but sometimes you just need a break for a little good news.

(26,315 posts)We saw one today here in Chicago. He wasn't as small as the squirrel in the op.
He looked like maybe a juvenile. He looked scared. Or hurt? Or sick?
We left him alone but I felt bad. I couldn't bring him home and give my dog a heart attack

(204,836 posts)We happened to be there one day when a wildlife rescue worker came to pick up baby squirrels who had been treated there. Not every vet clinic does it, but some do. Wildlife rescue knows where to bring them.

(36,818 posts)I was in the military at the time and as soon as we would open the door the baby squirrel would run up your leg and nest behind your shirt. We named him Rocky.
One day when we were at work the building manager was investigating the smell coming from our homebrew operation. The squirrel ran up his leg. He thought it was a rat and almost had a coronary.
Needless to say that was the end of both our homebrew and our pet squirrel.

(16,994 posts)a wild life rescue group. We met for a vaca in San Antonio and she brought a baby squirrel. You have to feed them every 4 hours! It was adorable but not quite the vaca I had in mind.

(51,438 posts)through with really strong wind and hail. As I was surveying the downed limbs, I discovered 3 tiny drowned squirrels in the driveway. Their nest had blown out of a tree. I dissolved in tears thinking of the poor babies asleep in their nest and being destroyed in the storm. They were just getting their fur, so maybe 3 or 4 weeks old. I buried them in the woods and cried for an hour.
