http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/beth-mowins-first-woman-monday-night-football_us_59b6b791e4b06e4604a226e1?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009DENVER ― On Monday night, the Broncos and the Chargers will face off in an NFL game for the 116th time. Capping off week one of the regular football season, the game will make a little history ― or, perhaps more fittingly, herstory.
From a booth above the playing field at Denvers Mile High Stadium, Beth Mowins will be the first woman to call a game play-by-play in the nearly half-century of Monday Night Football.
Shell be just the second woman ever to call a NFL game, ending a 30-year drought that started after Gayle Sierens provided commentary for a Seahawks-Chiefs match on a late-season Sunday in 1987. (For the record: Sierens crushed it.)
Mowins hopes that she can inspire more women to go into sports broadcasting and that as more women get their shot in the booth, gender wont be a big deal.

(27,800 posts)1. Good! I actually prefer Pam Ward, who's been doing it a bit longer.
But they are both good and I'll look forward to it. For some reason, Mowins is more popular than Pam Ward, but I guess I won't nitpick on this.

(5,168 posts)2. Several ladies are doing college football just fine.
I hardly ever notice anymore. I don't watch as much pro ball but I don't see why she won't do just as well.

But it is a start.
