William M. Gardner, the chairman of President Donald Trump’s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, suggested in an interview this week that voter turnout would be higher if the country returned to Jim Crow-era poll taxes and literacy tests.

The New York Times reported on Monday that Gardner is already being called on to resign his post after he argued that the Connecticut election results were likely fixed.

“Critics say the commission is a pretext for Republican efforts to make it harder to register and to vote, and that it will reach a predetermined conclusion, that tough new rules are needed to prevent fraud,” the Times noted. “Studies have repeatedly shown that illegal voting is very rare, and that voter impersonation — perhaps the main danger suggested by advocates of tighter election rules — is next to nonexistent.”

Those studies, however, don’t hold sway with Gardner, who told the paper that additional voting restrictions could be a boon to turnout.

The GOP has to cheat in order to win. They can't win whenever it's straight out numbers-only them vs. us.

So they're always looking for ways to game the system, that's all they've done for the last 30 years.
Never trust them, never take your eyes of them. They have to cheat to win.

Let me see your latest tax return. Hmmm. Gross income of $5 million? Your poll tax is a paltry $800,000, payable in advance in cash, because I assume you're a fraud. For your literacy test, I'd like a 75 page treatment of Christ-figure imagery in Moby-Dick. Any typos and you fail. Next!

Hmmm. Says here you grossed $45,000 last year. Got a quarter? Good. Spell "cat"; I'll spot you C-A. T? Very good, here's your ballot.
