by Jon Levine | 6:42 am, September 13th, 2017
Before the sun came up Wednesday Joe Scarborough was dropping bombs on set at MSNBC.
In the opening minutes of Morning Joe, the former GOP Congressman blasted his former party (nothing new there) and accused them of achieving nothing despite seven years of bitching. Im not sure if bitching is one of those words youre not supposed to say on cable news, so I decided to document it for the ages here just in case.
The remarks came in an otherwise unremarkable recap of headlines specifically a bipartisan dinner between three Senate Democrats and three Senate Republicans focusing on a path forward for tax reform. (Unrelated, this does seem to confirm JScars old theory that Trump views feeding people as a negotiating tactic.) Scarboroughs bitching moment, however, zinged Republican divisions on the issue.
We will repeat again the obvious. The Republican party has been in the minority for seven years. The Republican party has been bitching about how bad the Democrats are on health care and taxes and just about everything else, he said. And yet here we are almost done with the first legislative year of the Republican party owning Washington D.C, having a monopoly and not only do they not have a health care plan, not only were they not able to repeal Obamacare, they cant even come together on a tax reform plan, again, eight months in.

(14,558 posts)They were one vote, a vendetta middle finger from McCain for 45 calling him a loser, from getting the O Care repeal. And, they will continue to do the hateful, childish bullshit they have done all along to make it fail, with the country taking it up the arse on it and smiling, cause indulging republican fuck wittery is what the US does.
But, tax "reform" IS going to happen. If there is one thing that comes naturally to these assholes is wealth redistribution via the tax code.
They don't get into power without fucking us and feeding their masters.

(4,490 posts)Unlike Obamacare repeal, I think tax reform is something they could even get a Democrat or two to compromise on. The only thing standing in their way, imo, would be a few on the far right not willing to compromise on a bill that's not terrible emough.

(17,235 posts)to offer real solutions, they have none. This bunch of hypocritical blowhards blather away on nothing and let their rediculus leader believe he can get away with murder in the middle of NYC in broad daylight.

(51,567 posts)before the calendar expires in 2 WEEKS! I was on a conference call with Congressmember Barbara Lee (D-CA) and the Courage Coalition discussing this. We must call our reps TODAY (202)224-3121 and tell them to support the ACA and not the Graham Cassidy Bill. This time around the GOP is buying votes from McCain, Heller and a few others, I think Collins too, to get this passed. They need this win so buying votes will probably do the trick and repeal the ACA so they can say they accomplished something, even if it is by kicking millions off insurance and killing seniors and others with the their drastic Medicaid cuts, etc.

(82,849 posts)Remember the 2010 election that put Republicans in charge of Congress? Remember the number one issue they had that year? Jobs. It's been seven years, and there hasn't been a jobs bill - good, bad or indifferent - out of Republicans. It's such a specific strain of communal amnesia among the political media that I would think there's a Nobel Prize or something waiting for the researcher who unlocks this puzzle.
