(7,911 posts)Someone calling themselves "Hurricane Victims Fund" claims they will donate the proceeds to the Red Cross. Do you believe what a stranger tells you on the Internet?
I don't know if it's legit, but if I wanted to donate to the Red Cross, I'd donate to The Red Cross, not some anonymous third party with a go fund me page.

(3,827 posts)I donated money to JJ Watt's GoFundMe page for Harvey- I just thought this one looked very suspicious. Some of my Twitter and FB followers also shared this as an Irma relief link.

South and Central Florida caught the worst of Irma. People around Houston still need help from the aftermath of Harvey.
Also consider donating to Habitat for Humanity. Likely they'll help with rebuilding.
I'm a cynical old broad and I'm always a little skeptical of organizations that pop up and collect money after a disaster.
