Does anyone actually trust this snake at his word for anything? Anyone at all? Show of hands.

I just want to be clear that just because he claims he deal on DACA doesn't mean he'll follow through.

Maybe he will, but most likely he won't.

He's a coward and a con man, and will do whatever he will in the present just to kick the can down the road.

Ask anyone who's ever expected full payment for contracting work on one of his construction projects how valuable Donald Trump's word is.

I do have a feeling that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are both well aware of this, and are playing along for the long game, but I know there were some prior to Trump's inauguration who thought that a President Trump would be more flexible and reasonable and willing to make "deals" and perhaps might read this as a sign of that Trump kicking in.

That Trump doesn't exist. This is a big façade. His word is as worthless as his Russian indebted net worth.

I'd tell them to take Trump's "agreements" with a grain of salt and assume he's going to stab Democrats in the back, just as he did repukes.

and they are trying their best to either get a better deal for dreamers, show Trump supporters who he really is, or, most likely, both.
As I learned from watching endless ads for Karen Handel during the Georgia 6 election, Trump supporters hate Nancy Pelosi.

If the only thing that comes out of this exercise is to accelerate the inevitable break between Trump and the GOP, and maybe even Trump and his racist base, it will have been worth it,

...we should all expect the President of the United States to tell the truth.

What's missing is real accountability with consequences for his word..

He's got a 71 year track record that suggests that's a very difficult thing for him to do.

...it makes political sense to echo Trump's declarations and agreements, and work to hold him to his word, even if it's ultimately futile.

Watch him squirm.

First post ever on DU, so forgive my naiveté.

Didn't like the idea of Chuck as leader of the Democratic Party at first, but now I see wisdom (dare I say expediency) in the choice. Can't see that meeting happening with Senator Keith Ellison.

Trump so desperately wants a win that he's willing to switch hit. Makes sense. Public seeks answers to failed economy. Republicans are ideologically devoid of ideas or purpose and spend their hours backbiting who is the most ideologically pure. Democrats have their fingers on the safety nets. A win means simply that Chuck and Nancy told POTUS not to run with scissors.
