Elected officials have "official" accounts and personal accounts; there are some restrictions on the campaigning one can do with them, IIRC, such as soliciting funds, etc.

What makes it unbelievable is their response. First his office suggested they were hacked and then when that story became too implausible to support the story then became it was caused by an unnamed staffer "by accident" at around midnight.
