4. Instead of Hillary we are treated to the usual

Low brow lowest common denominator asshole. It was bound to happen after 8 years of reasonable governance.

8. They were both great

Rachel asked some substantive questions, and Hillary answered in kind; completely, intelligently, and thoughtfully.

She didn't mince words about Trump!

10. Both of Them Are on My List of Dinner Guests

Remember that old conversation starter? "If you could have dinner with any ten people from history, who would they be?"

My list starts with Rachel and Hillary (first name basis in my house).

11. The hour flew by.

I record Rachel nightly. I was reluctant to watch because I knew I would experience so much regret about the election as I listened to Secy. Clinton. I'm so glad I watched.

12. Conversationally smart but not situationally aware

Sorry, there's a massive difference and it dictates results.

Neither one of them had any clue what was brewing last year. I was scared entering 2016 and it only elevated after I attended several PGA events. It was white male after white male wearing hats and championing Trump. Sure that's a friendly demographic for him but it never should have been that loud or lopsided.

That was spring. I watched Rachel countless times. She was too busy mocking Trump to have any idea what he had tapped into. The shifting white percentages was never a topic. Then Hillary during the fall not only ignored the key midwestern states but during the debates she allowed Trump to get the jump on the topic of job loss in those states literally every time. It was driving me nuts.

Hillary was light years smarter and more capable but none of that mattered in the slightest every time Trump rambled about job loss in Ohio. It wasn't merely Ohio hearing him. The people in Wisconsin and elsewhere applied Trump's concern to them.

I am not a fan of Rachel Maddow. She can follow an issue point by point as well as anyone but that basically doesn't mean a damn thing other than to red meat supporters. Rachel presents truly damning information but butchers the weighting system almost without exception. She thinks it will lead to Remedy X when it doesn't even manage Concern A.

Rachel doesn't convert anyone because she never senses a trend ahead of time. Nobody repeats and repeats and repeats while forecasting. They do it while explaining. You know what they say about explaining.

Hillary should have had help from her husband but he obviously stopped paying attention somewhere along the line. Bill was very situationally aware during his heyday but once he said he was surprised at the 2014 midterm results I knew Hillary was in trouble toward 2016. Anyone who was following the waves understood long before November 2014 that whites were fed up with Obama and determined to use that midterm as a mere warm up toward 2016.

13. Personally, I think the election was outright stolen, so for me,

all the other points are moot. Trump told us that the election was going to be stolen and that the only outcome he'd accept is if he won. President Obama, Hillary, Rachel and others insisted on defending our democracy. That allowed Trump and the Russians to steal the election with no questions asked.

To be clear, I'm not blaming Obama or Hillary or Rachel for not foreseeing this. The entire situation was unprecedented and unbelievable. Yes, me and you and others at home were worried sick, but politicians wouldn't be able to function if they thought (panicked) like us. We now know that our system wasn't designed to protect against an unscrupulous candidate propped up by a foreign government and extremely ignorant and deplorable supporters. Hillary is right about the need to protect voting rights. It's the only way out of this mess!
