It reimburses providers 50% of costs. The other 50% comes from things like sales tax and vehicle license fees. States who adopted Medicaid expansion added poor adult males to the rolls of those eligible for Medicaid.

Medicare is paid for by payroll deductions for part A and by the insured for parts B and D. Also since Medicare does not cover 100% of costs, insured buy suplimental plans.

If you're trying to say the 1987 comments did not apply to future dates, let me tell you that Vermont failed due to high costs 24 years after Bernie made a comment.

still the issue now .

it's not like they actually tried to implement it and it didn't work leading to financial problems.

they never implemented a program because they ddin't want to deal with the funding.

that's the problem with Sander's bill right now. but he said he will deal with funding in another bill.

"...Despite differing projections, all three studies showed that single payer was economically feasible... the Vermont plan was abandoned because of legitimate political considerations... the decision to withdraw the plan represented a failure of political will..."

people are afraid of change (even in Vermont) and simply can't understand something they consider so radical ??

Bernie was speaking about Medicaid back then, not Medicare.

Something has to be done about the cost and delivery of health care. It won't be easy, it won't be inexpensive, but something has to change. I favor a results-oriented national dialogue rather than folks carping from the sidelines.

Sanders and the other sponsors of this new bill are going to take their case to the people. I'm hoping that dialogue will produce results. It's certainly worth a try.

Bernie videos are not right wing sites. The person who called costs astronomical is not a right-wing site. It is Bernie Sanders, who is a good man in a very liberal politician. we are analyzing his contention that the costs are astronomical.

Here's the deal, Medicare and Medicaid cost more per person now than they would under the Medicare for All plan. How is that possible, you say?! Well, a large single payer can negotiate reduced costs with providers, drug companies, etc.

What Bernie is doing is making a rhetorical point: if you expand Medicaid based on the current cost per person to everyone, yes that would be really expensive. But if you expand, the cost per person will GO DOWN!

In the next part of the interview this is explained. Instead, the right wing site cut it out and you posted it because you agree with them.

Anyway, you're either for single payer or for Trump.
