Threatening boycotts because she was standing beside Lily Tomblin when she went after Trump.
Hundreds and hundreds of comments attacking her on every post on her page. Expect wingnut media to run with it tomorrow and launch the next Dixie Chicks treatment.
I guess, after 8 years of reality TV's Donald Trump bashing Obama, questioning his citizenship with tales of imaginary birther investigators, and insinuating he murdered Hawaii's records clerk, conservatives are now back to "entertainers who criticize a president must be destroyed."

(17,288 posts)And I doubt at this point in her amazing career she cares what anyone thinks. She has always been very outspoken. I love to listen to her interviews and music.

They can vomit all the hate they want, Ms Parton will still have more lovers and supporters, inside and outside America, than all added haters in the world.
I love her as a talented artist and much more for being a such nice and compassionate woman. A national treasure for sure.

(5,914 posts)One thing that I haven't failed to notice amidst all the right-wing outrage I hear about is that when the right-wingers bother to show up, there's almost no one there. They've even voiced their shock and surprise at this. You would almost think their "movement" is 99% MANUFACTURED and exists almost exclusively in the black box of social media.

I've long thought Dolly was a great country singer/writer, a decent actress and good person but her standing up for her FRIEND, even knowing she'd get backlash, just increased my respect for her that much more.

She will not change to suit those cretins. I'm sure she will lose some fans but the majority won't care. If they mess with her, they will be at risk.
She is not some new act or a has been. She is country music. Those mooks can try to bully her but good luck with that.

Of course, it's only "free speech", too, when it meets with their agenda. To them, no one else has the right to state an opinion. Screw them.

(17,862 posts)her Civil War themed dinner show. It does have a tendency to trivialize a serious period of our history.
