The biggest problem we have in this country right now.

The biggest problem that we have in this country right now is that a majority of the population is ignorant of what is going on in the world. Most people here are grossly uninformed and apathetic. Our news media is heavily biased and co-opted by corporate and special interests. It is still possible to get a somewhat clear picture of what is really happening right now, but you really have to dig around and have good critical thinking skills. That's where the apathy comes in. Many people just don't care enough to put in the effort. Couple that with the fact that the intellectual capacity of the average American has been declining for several decades, and, yeah, you get President Donald Trump.

I don't know much about the Harvard Business School, but my guess is that it's probably not a hotbed of liberal thought. But even an institution such as that is bemoaning America's brain drain and declaring our political process corrupt and broken despite the fact that it is dominated by people who are seen as being very business friendly- basically, political tools for corporate America.

There is some solid evidence coming out now that Russia interfered with our election process particularly through social media. However, in a well-informed society I think people would have been able to knock that stuff over easily. I'm on Facebook a lot now days and I see a lot of conservative memes. They all dissolve with a little scrutiny and critical thought, but people don't think to consider that stuff closely, and they pass it all along as if they were solid air-tight arguments exposing the hypocrisy and fallacy of the stupid liberals and showing the incontrovertible truth and goodness of the superior conservatives. A provocative picture with a few words somehow becomes more persuasive than a well thought out intellectual article on the issues or a straight up news story. It's junk food to the intellect and that's all most people consume now days.

Consider this. Most people on the planet can easily see that Donald Trump is a human grease ball. Everyone outside of the United States has no problem clearly seeing Trump for what he is. He's just a terrible person and an incompetent boor. It's as plain as day. However, about 35% of American adults still cannot see that. His base is so loyal to him that they appear to view him as the second coming of Christ. He can do no wrong in their eyes. How is it possible to see a person like Trump in that way? The conclusion that I keep coming to is that these people's minds have been raped. The worst of them are so far gone that they actively fight against people who are trying to get the truth out using the propaganda of their oppressors. They must have Stockholm Syndrome.
