President Trump said France’s Bastille Day celebration that he attended in July with French President Emmanuel Macron was such a “beautiful thing to see” that he’s thinking of holding a similar parade in Washington as a salute to the US military, the New York Post reports.

Said Trump: “Because of what I witnessed we may do something like that on July Fourth in Washington down Pennsylvania Avenue… We’re actually thinking about that … having a really great parade to show our military strength.”

I was going to ask if he cares how much it would cost just to transport all the troops and equipment to Washington to be in the parade, and also how much it would cost to repave Constitution Avenue every year. And then I remembered: It's Trump. He does NOT care.

Also, I don't think Johnson's makes five-gallon cans of baby oil anymore. Back in the Old Days when Republicans still hated the Russians, the US Army's Berlin Brigade had a tremendous parade every year. The US Command Berlin, for some reason no one in the world knows, decided all the vehicles in the parade would be polished to a high shine. Army vehicles are painted with flat paint, so to make them shine the Brigade spent the month before the parade rubbing baby oil into the paint...and then, after the dog & pony show was over, spent the next two weeks scrubbing it off. My unit, thank Cthulhu, did NOT participate in that fuckery, but not through lack of trying...one year they had a new sergeant major over there who noticed Field Station Berlin had never been in the parade. He called our sergeant major and ordered him to provide "all the soldiers and equipment not on duty at the time of the parade" to march in the grand exhibition of American military prowess. "Fine," said my sergeant major, "I will provide one forklift, one lieutenant and two company clerks because that's all I have. Where do you want them?"
