Donald Trump Jr. Gives Up Secret Service Protection, Seeking Privacy
WASHINGTON Donald Trump Jr., the presidents eldest son, has elected for forgo protection by the Secret Service, according to a senior administration official.
The agency ceased protecting Mr. Trump, who lives in New York City and is an executive at the Trump Organization, last week. Mr. Trump, an avid camper and hunter, is said to be seeking more privacy than he can expect with a contingent of agents accompanying him everywhere.
It was not immediately clear whether the decision applied to his family; he and his wife, Vanessa, have five children. Mr. Trump could not be reached, and the White House did not return a message seeking comment.
But giving up protection of even the younger Mr. Trump alone will provide relief for the Secret Service, which has had its work force and resources strained by the size and lifestyle of the Trump family.

(21,846 posts)Really. He is probably going to go into hiding and avoid prosecution.
Maggots going to pardon him.
That's a given.
I don't think he would run.
I do think shady deals are more likely.

Scrutiny for his financial dealings? Or is he messing around and doesn't want his wife to know?

"The Secret Service does not decide who falls under its protection. In the case of the presidents immediate family, the agency is required by law to provide round-the-clock security unless it is told not to."

(877 posts)It seems like the Secret Service is protecting the kids only to prevent the President from succumbing to foreign powers and potential kidnapping. Yes, most Presidents would care about their children but who knows about this one?
It would seem to me that they don't have a choice while Cheetolini is in office. . .

(50,546 posts)The second worst part is the entire Left thinks the only reason Don-Don would give up his taxpayer-funded bodyguard is he plans to either do something illegal or to flee the country.
The worst part is that is almost certainly his intention.

(130 posts)If they have something, but have been waiting to get more by using people with wires, this action will just lead to a faster arrest. Hunkering down will them decide to act now rather than later.
Makes me think of that To Catch A Predator business years ago with that prosecutor. After having already had an elicite conversation with what he thought was a minor, he stopped all communication and never went to the bait house. That didn't help him. He already committed a crime with the conversion, so they went to him.
Point being, if you've commited a crime, hunkering down isn't going to save you. If anything, it makes the authorities realize it is time to act.

With his interest in big game hunting he might opt for a country offering that opportunity.
