Call about suspicious man was made by Georgia Tech student killed by police, investigators say
By Avi Selk and T. Rees Shapiro September 18 at 9:31 PM
The call that led Georgia Tech campus police to respond to a man reportedly wielding a knife was made by the student who was later shot and killed by officers, police investigators said Monday night.
That student, Scout Schultz, left three suicide notes behind in a dormitory room, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The developments added further layers of complexity to the death of Schultz, a 21-year-old who led the universitys Pride Alliance and had a history of mental illness.
In the call to police Saturday night, Schultz described a suspicious person as a white male, with long blond hair, white T-shirt & blue jeans who is possibly intoxicated, holding a knife and possibly armed with a gun on his hip, according to a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

OP
What's especially awful about depression and suicide is that all logic goes out the window.

People kill themselves using Aspirin too - it's one of the most horrific and inefficient ways to die, possibly drawing your painful, inevitable death out for weeks. While I would imagine some suicidal people try to go painlessly, suicidal people seem to be irrational, sometimes also choosing methods that might not even be lethal.
The point is, this person probably wasn't in their right mind. Examining what they did is pointless, as there isn't a normal logic behind it. They might have wanted to die, or part of them may have been hoping to get tasered. Nobody will ever know now.

suicide simply by calling them for help.
