Almost everybody is clacking away on their clackers. I swear I'm going to install a train horn on my vehicle.

Almost every time we venture to drive here in the city, inevitably a pedestrian glued to their iPhone (let's not vilify iPhones alone, it could be their Android) will step out into the traffic, against the light and totally unaware of their surroundings, causing us or the car ahead to swerve or brake to avoid running them down. Sometimes there are whole packs of pedestrians walking heads down, their attention rapt on a tweet or a vimeo on their phones, like the Living Dead.

Step away from your phones, people, whether you are driving or walking!

8. My street sees a small but steady amount of traffic

I'd guess one car about every 45 seconds or so, because we're not a big road, though we do connect to larger streets.

When I happen to see a car going past, I'd say that better than 7 out of 10 times the driver is looking at a phone.

And if it's a cop, then it's more like 9 out of 10.

11. I REFUSE to live the cel phone life

Yes, do have a somewhat "smart" phone due to Tracfone finally needing me to be 4G capable due to a tower change in my area. So I spent $50 to get the used LG, but still use it like my very very old flipper.

I hate the idea of others thinking I am always accessible, even if that is in the background.

Very occasionally check Email when out and about if waiting for something important.

I truly hate the idea of being like others who check messages during a meal, ignoring beauty of interesting people or sites around them so as to check FaceBook etc.

The only people who have my cel# are friends who may be late to carpool, home again service for if my pet is on the run, and emergency if relatives need to reach me and my landline (yes, a landline) is out. Also had to temporarily give it to insurance carrier after I was booted from my home due to a fire.

That's it. $100 a year to renew and the unused units are carried over.
